FUNERALS

At this sensitive time of loss and grief, the family is encouraged to make contact with the Parish Priest, and the Undertakers asap.  The family will be invited to meet with the Celebrant to prepare the Liturgy.

It usually takes about 10 days from the time of passing to the time of the person being laid to rest.

Please keep those who have lost a loved one recently, in your prayers.

Anniversaries are remembered in the Book of Rememberance open before the Altar or the Sacred Heart.  May they Rest in Peace.

CEMETERY SUNDAY

Our Church Community gathers at Holly Hill Cemetery at 3.00pm on the first Sunday in November (traditionally the month of prayer for the Dead) and holds a short service of prayer and remembrance with a visit to family graves for blessing and prayer, if they so wish.  Families with graves elsewhere are encouraged to attend.

PLANNING A FUNERAL - 'REST IN PEACE, PEACE OF MIND'

This sounds rather odd, but it is actually a lovely thing to do to help the next of kin at a painful time.  The day is an opportunity for you to explore in greater detail how to plan a Funeral - the Scripture readings, hymns, prayers, music, poems and personal requests.  The local Undertakers also attend to help answer any questions and remove any anxieties and superstitions that you may have, and present the Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plan/contracts.  This preparation morning is held bi-annually in the hall.

If you have not had the chance to come to this day, please do not hesitate to ask the Parish Priest if you would like to meet and talk things through or would like any help.

Please see the Newsletter for more information.
