PARISH COUNCILS

ST MARGARET MARY PASTORAL TEAM (StMMPT)

The Pastoral Team is a mixed group of nominated and appointed members of the Church community.  Their task it is to define and promote the mission of our Church and to create procedures to implement this mission.  Through prayer and discussion the Pastoral Team works as a consultative forum to advise and support the work of the Associate Parish Priest for our community.  Together they implement and evaluate the pastoral initiatives and policies best suited to the spreading of the Gospel in the wider Parish.

Members are responsible for acting as conduits of information from the Pastoral Team, as well as relaying the hopes of the parishioners to the Team.  There is a photoboard of the Members of the Pastoral Team on the wall in the Church Foyer.

The Pastoral Team meets every 4 - 6 weeks with each member serving for approximately 3 years.

THE COUNCIL OF REPRESENTATIVES (Groups' Council)

St Margaret Mary's Council of Representatives consists of a representative of each of the twenty or so ministries and activity groups working in the Church community who meet to exchange the news and views of their various tasks.  Their quarterly meetings (preceded by a Mass) are also attended by the Pastoral Team providing an excellent forum where successes are shared and needs discussed.

OUR LADY STAR OF THE SEA - FAREHAM AND GOSPORT PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL (PPC)

The Associate Parish Priests and representatives from each of the four main Church communities together with the three Primary schools form this Council.  The Parish Pastoral Council meets approximately once every two months to discuss matters of concern to all the Churches and our new Parish.

Fr John Humphreys is the Parish Priest and the Chair is Mr Mike Ricketts.  Meetings are held at The Immaculate Conception Church in Stubbington.

Our Church is evolving in response to the needs of a changing society with ever increasing pressures and expectations on the family, home and social life.  The St Margaret Mary Church Council reports directly to the new Parish Pastoral Council (which in turn reports to the Diocesan Pastoral Council) and this will be the backbone or infrastructure to serve our community here in Park Gate.

This huge challenge requires a new way of thinking and planning.  A strong St Margaret Mary Pastoral Team and Group Rep Council is core to this evolution so that we may manifest the wisdom of Christ present in our Church community here at St Margaret Mary's.

If you would like to know more, please speak to the Pastoral Team Chair, Mrs Mary Kilbride.  You are very welcome.
